Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: March 2026
Program Sponsor: Kin Insurance, Inc. and its affiliates including Kin Insurance Network Distributor, LLC, doing business as Kin Distributor Insurance Services (collectively "Kin," "we," or "us").
1. Agreement to Terms
By participating in the Kin Refer-a-Friend Program (the "Program"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"), as well as Kin's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, each of which are incorporated herein by reference and can be accessed at kin.com. All of Kin's determinations under these Terms are final and binding.
2. Program Overview
The Program allows eligible Kin customers ("Advocates") to share a personal referral link with friends, family members, or colleagues ("Friends") who may be interested in purchasing a Kin home insurance policy in California. If a Friend purchases a qualifying California home policy using an Advocate's referral link and that policy becomes effective, both the Advocate and the Friend are eligible to receive a reward as described in Section 6 below.
The Program is administered by Extole, Inc. ("Extole") on behalf of Kin. By participating, you consent to Kin sharing your personal information with Extole for the purposes of administering the Program.
3. Eligibility
Advocates. To participate as an Advocate, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Hold an active Kin insurance policy covering a property in California;
- Have a valid email address on file with Kin; and
- Legal resident of California.
Friends. To be eligible to receive a reward as a referred Friend, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Not currently be, or previously have been, a Kin customer;
- Purchase a qualifying California home insurance policy through Kin using a valid Advocate referral link; and
- Be a legal resident of California.
Exclusions. Employees, officers, and directors of Kin and its affiliates, and members of their immediate households, are not eligible to participate in the Program in any capacity.
4. How the Program Works
Eligible Advocates will receive an invitation by email or SMS to participate in the Program. Advocates may visit share.kin.com and enter the email address associated with their Kin account to verify eligibility. Upon verification, Advocates will receive a unique personal referral link (the "Referral Link") that they may share with prospective Friends.
Friends who receive a Referral Link may visit Kin's referral landing page to get a quote and, if they choose, purchase a California home policy. All Friend interactions are tracked through Extole for attribution and reward fulfillment purposes.
Rewards are issued to both the Advocate and the Friend after the Friend's California home policy becomes effective. Rewards will be delivered by email with instructions to claim.
5. Restrictions on Participation
By participating in the Program, you agree that you will not:
- Refer yourself, or create multiple, fictitious, or duplicate accounts to generate referrals;
- Use automated systems, scripts, bots, or other devices to generate or distribute Referral Links;
- Pay to advertise or promote your Referral Link;
- Distribute your Referral Link through bulk email, automated messaging, or unsolicited commercial communications to strangers; organic personal sharing on your own social media accounts or community pages is permitted, provided you do not engage in any activity described in the producer licensing restriction below;
- Represent yourself as an employee, agent, or representative of Kin;
- Engage in any activity that could constitute the sale, solicitation, or negotiation of insurance, including but not limited to: explaining coverage terms or options, describing policy features or benefits, comparing insurance products, advising on coverage needs, or otherwise engaging in any activity that requires an insurance producer license under California law;
- Submit false or fraudulent information in connection with any referral or insurance application, or encourage any Friend to do so;
- Promote the Program as a money-making scheme, including in any online forum or community dedicated to rewards, cash-back, or earning opportunities; or
- Engage in any activity that is unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or otherwise contrary to the spirit and intent of the Program.
6. Rewards
Structure. Each eligible Advocate will receive a reward for each qualifying referral. The referred Friend will also receive a reward upon the effective date of their qualifying California home policy ("Give $100, Get $100"). Reward structures may change over time. Advocates and Friends will receive the reward amount in effect at the time the qualifying home policy is purchased.
Form. Rewards will be issued as electronic gift cards. Gift cards are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable issuer.
Annual Cap. Advocates may earn a maximum of $1,900 in rewards per calendar year under this Program.
Trigger. Rewards are issued on the effective date of the Friend's qualifying California home policy. No reward will be issued for a quote, application, or bind that does not result in an in-force policy.
Delivery. Rewards are administered by Extole and will be delivered via email within a reasonable time following the policy effective date. Recipients must claim their reward through the link provided in the notification email. Unclaimed rewards may be subject to expiration per the gift card issuer's terms.
Taxes. Recipients are solely responsible for any federal, state, or local taxes or fees arising from the receipt of a reward. Kin does not provide tax advice. Recipients should consult a tax advisor with any questions.
Restrictions. Rewards have no cash value and may not be redeemed for cash, transferred, auctioned, traded, bartered, or sold, except as provided by the applicable gift card issuer's terms. Kin will not replace lost or stolen gift cards. Kin reserves the right to combine multiple rewards into a single gift card at its discretion.
7. Disqualification and Fraud
Kin reserves the right to void, withhold, or reclaim any reward if it determines, in its sole discretion, that a referral was fraudulent, duplicative, or otherwise in violation of these Terms. Fraudulent activity includes, without limitation: using different contact information for the same individual, submitting false information, or any attempt to game or manipulate the Program.
Any attempt to deliberately damage or undermine the legitimate operation of the Program may violate criminal and civil laws. Kin reserves the right to seek all available remedies, including damages and attorneys' fees, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
8. Anti-Spam
Advocates are the actual senders of any referral communications they initiate and are solely responsible for complying with all applicable laws, including the CAN-SPAM Act and California Business and Professions Code § 17529 et seq.
Referral communications must be personal in nature and directed to individuals with whom the Advocate has a genuine personal or professional relationship. Bulk distribution to strangers is strictly prohibited. Advocates agree to indemnify Kin and Extole against any liability arising from non-compliant referral communications.
9. Release and Limitation of Liability
By participating in the Program, Advocate agrees to release and hold harmless Kin, its officers, directors, employees, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Program, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Program; (b) technical errors that may impair the ability to participate in the Program; (c) errors in the administration of the Program arising from circumstances beyond Kin’s reasonable control; (c) any claim or allegation that participation infringes any copyright, trademark, or any other intellectual property right; and (e) claims relating to injuries, death, or damage to persons or property relating in any way to participation in the Program. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KIN, EXTOLE, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS (COLLECTIVELY, "RELEASED PARTIES") SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE PROGRAM. THE RELEASED PARTIES' MAXIMUM AGGREGATE LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROGRAM SHALL NOT EXCEED $100. The Released Parties are not liable for technical errors, unauthorized access, data loss, printing errors, or any failure to provide rewards caused by circumstances beyond their reasonable control.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. KIN AND EXTOLE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
11. Modification and Termination
Kin reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Program, or any participant's ability to participate, at any time and for any reason without prior notice. Modified Terms are effective upon posting. Continued participation in the Program after any modification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Program is impaired in any way, Kin may, in its sole discretion, suspend the Program to address the impairment and then resume the Program. Kin reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and seek damages from any individual who tampers with the operation of the Program, violates these Terms, or acts in a disruptive manner. Kin’s failure to enforce any term of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. The Program is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. Kin reserves the right to void any entry that it believes has attempted to tamper with or impair the Program or entries thereof, or otherwise may impact the administration, security, or fairness of the Program.
12. Governing Law
All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Terms, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Kin in connection with the Program, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than California.
- Term of Program
The Program begins at 8:00 am CT on 03/23/2026 and ends at Midnight CT on 03/23/2027, unless terminated sooner. Kin’s clock will be the official timekeeping device for the Program.
- Disputes
By participating, except where prohibited, Advocate agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Program or any reward shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action. In any such dispute, under no circumstances will Advocate be permitted to obtain awards for and hereby waives, all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees.
